SUN . CONTEMPORARY Presents: LAWRENCE BLAIR The Ring of Fire Archives

Marking the 40th anniversary of the fire that destroyed explorer and psycho-anthropologist Dr. Lawrence Blair’s Los Angeles home, SUN . CONTEMPORARY presents The Ring of Fire Archives. Open to the public from 19 September to 17 November, the rare exhibition features photographs in the 70s-80s from said islands, alongside Aru, Bali, Flores, Krakatoa and Sumatra, and a series of abstract images taken from Dr Blair’s experiments in cymatics and sacred geometry.

Curated by Xerxes Cook, 31 photographs in total are on display, released in limited editions, alongside half a dozen unique prints embellished by Dr Blair himself. Also viewable are lightboxes where the audience can view the slides through their own eyes, and a television display of the Ring of Fire series to further contextualize the imagery.
