The latest initiative from the Foundation behind Ubud Writers & Readers Festival (UWRF), The Ubud Artisan Market is making a comeback to help aid the local economy and create opportunities for Bali’s young entrepreneurs.

Supported by the Bupati of Gianyar, in collaboration with local businesses, The Ubud Artisan Market aims to bring together the island’s most creative makers and newest innovators from this pandemic era.

Founder of Yayasan Mudra Swari Saraswati, Janet DeNeefe, believes it will create a much-needed economic and emotional boost for communities in Bali; whilst providing a platform for local residents to pivot into new careers in innovative, entrepreneurial ways.

The Ubud Artisan Market (UAM) will be held monthly for two days at the Festival Hub of UWRF and UFF on Jalan Raya Sanggingan, Ubud.

Visitors will delight in a treasure trove of handmade items from textiles, homewares, clothing, to beauty products, artisan ingredients, and Indonesian home-cooked dishes and desserts.

Young creatives can take it as a rare opportunity to sell their work and network with both emerging and established business people. The Market will also showcase traditional arts and crafts, assisting in the preservation of cultural heritage.

Families are in for a fun weekend treat as the monthly market will hold performances, workshops, talk shows, and film screenings in their venue that overlooks the beautiful Campuhan Ridge — the perfect destination for a picnic with family and friends.

Strict Government approved COVID-19 protocol will be applied with body temperatures checked on arrival and masks to be worn at all times, except when eating and drinking.

The Market welcomes vendors of all business levels, from individuals and communities to SMEs and companies, making it inclusive for all.

The first Ubud Artisan Market will take place 6 – 7 March 2021, from 11am to 7pm on both days. Following this, the market will take place: 3-4 April, 1 – 2 May, 5-6 June.
