On Saturday, 15th February 2020, the fourth ‘Bali’s Biggest Clean Up’ will take place, inviting everyone on the island to have a hand in collecting waste from Bali’s beaches, rivers, streets and villages.
Led by One Island One Voice, a Bali-based network of organisations active in the field of waste prevention and management, Bali’s Biggest Clean Up acts not only as a day to remove plastic waste and litter from around the island, but also as a crucial community-driven awareness campaign about plastic pollution. Over the three years, the movement has gathered 45,000 people in 325 locations around Bali, collecting 135 tons of plastic and waste. The clean ups – which were originally beach clean ups but now incorporate rivers, villages, streets and towns – are supported by Eco Bali Recycling, who process all of the waste collected for recycling or repurposing, ensuring they don’t end up in landfills or in bodies of water on the island.
One Island One Voice are inviting everyone on the island to take part in this huge community event on 15 February 2020, to join together and help to keep Bali clean. You can sign up online as a Coordinator to pick a clean up location and time, or simply as a Volunteer to find a location near you that you can lend a hand.
