A large crowd of locals and visitors are expected to gather for an extraordinary evening of music, artwork, photography, dance, literature and fun. The event, which will take place in the new pavilion from 6pm, is a celebration of the culture and environment of Borneo island. Traditional Dayak dancers from the jungles of Kalimantan will perform alongside Lombok’s ‘Qisie and Friends’, playing what has been called ‘kampong folk-rock’.

An exhibition will feature the inspiring photographs of David Metcalf and a new collection of colourful works by Ubud-based artist, Khan Wilson, produced especially for the event. In addition to joining Qisie and Friends on stage, Mark will present readings from a new book, against a backdrop of art projections and live music. A new book by Mark Heyward is to be released at the event, titled ‘Looking for Borneo; images, words and music inspired by the book, Crazy Little Heaven’. Lavishly illustrated by Wilson and Metcalf, the coffee table book features Heyward’s acclaimed writing and includes a bonus CD of the writer’s original songs performed with Qisie and Friends.
