Breakfast Boom

Our beloved Island of the Gods is currently experiencing somewhat of a “breakfast boom”. Starred and luxury resorts are definitely upping their breakfast ante, and restaurants are adding innovative, scrumptious items to their breakfast menus. If you’re in search of the ultimate Bali breakfast, here’s our list of where to get a killer one in some notable venues.

This Ubud restaurant is celebrated for its diverse flavours of Indonesian dishes, with a menu driven by island-fresh produce and seasonal specialties.

Petani serves a generous set menu breakfast each morning, and then home-style regional cuisine with a modern twist throughout the remainder of the day.

Fronting the buzzy Jalan Hanoman, Pengosekan and Ubud Monkey Forest area, you get to choose how you would like your breakfast served – with people-watching options (very interesting) or a view of soothing rice fields.

The name may not shout “breakfast spot,” but the venue offers some of the most scrumptious breakfasts, especially since it is served facing the Indian Ocean!

The Rock Bar’s “Breakfast by the Sea” spoils you with delicious options that range from the traditional local flavours under the “Balinese” items (Gado Gado, Soto Ayam, Bubur Injin, and more), the “Healthy” items (acai bowl with fresh berries, grilled salmon, brown rice, and more), and the “Mediterranean” items (chick pea hummus, Greek yogurt parfait, egg frittata, and more).

Whatever you choose, it will come with your choice of a fresh tropical juice or fresh coconut, and fresh ocean breezes!

The Seminyak dining institution has been serving breakfast for a year now, and it’s amazing how a simple Croque Madame (cheddar, ham, sunny side up egg) from Chez Gado Gado’s breakfast menu can attract foodies for the most important meal of the day.

Then again, after over thirty years, the restaurant has earned itself a long-standing legacy in what is usually only fifteen minutes of culinary fame.
