Held over the weekend of the 8th and 9th of August at ARMA Ubud, the BRI Touch International Ubud Village Jazz Festival incorporated 2 days of full-on Jazz for real Jazz enthusiasts. Around 3500 people descended upon ARMA over the weekend. The pleasant outdoor setting featured 18 creative bamboo stalls and VIP Booths for Bank BRI as UVJF 2014 title sponsor, merged with the natural lighting from banana leaves and coconut materials. Even the little sprinkling of rain didn’t stop guests enjoying sitting on the grass on bamboo mats!

Highlights of the weekend included stunning performances by GAPP Project, Deborah Carter, Sandy Winarta, Yuri Mahatma, Astrid Sulaiman, Erica Tucceri, Gilad Hekselman, Ben Van den Dungen, Alexandre Cunha, Jiwa Band and Chika Asamoto.

The 2014 theme was “Awakening Indonesia” in keeping with Indonesia’s Independence Day celebration in August. Said Anom Darsana, Festival Director, commented, “Our talented young Indonesian artists are the key to the development and future existence of Jazz in Indonesia.”

The Festival aimed to provide important cross-cultural and networking opportunities between international, local jazz musicians and the creative community and feature established and emerging musicians over the two days and three stages. It collaborated with local industries, such as handmade drums from Jakarta and double basses from Solo.!
