The winds of change are blowing along the Amed coast. And this fresh breeze has brought a new kind of eatery with pizza! This is a move away from the reggae and fresh fish beach bars that typify Amed in the shape of the new Reef Bar in Conglang (next to Jemeluk). Pizza and beer is what they offer! Wander up the steps into the open and airy timber interior and take a seat while surveying the menu. Listen to the non reggae music and realise you are in a different kind of environment. It’s open every day except Monday from 12 midday until 10pm unless, that is, it gets busy.

It’s a refreshing departure from the usual offerings – and really, there is always room for a little innovation. Created by the team that operate Puri Wirata, one of the popular hotels along that growing coastal strip, the Reef Bar offers a little diversity.

Their aim is simple – to provide good pizzas and a few supporting dishes of salads and pastas, finished off with a small selection of good desserts using only the best Belgian chocolate.

The pizza base is made with yeast and proper flour and the toppings are just what  you would expect – classic  styles and some variations – all with quality ingredients. The friendly staff go out of their way to make your visit enjoyable.

Beers they have aplenty.  Belgian beer as well as the local Bintang and San Miguel. Blond and dark varieties – a pleasant treat when you are away  from home. There is Bali Cider too.  Yes there is a Belgian connection! One of the owners is Belgian and his love for good beer shows!

Another pleasing policy is no reggae! Amed has adopted reggae as its own and the slow smooth beat and wailing tones of Bob Marley and his myriad imitators is the most heard music in the area. To sit in an open space with a completely different atmosphere makes for a refreshing change.

The Reef Bar promises to be a great event place, with forthcoming football nights and movie nights all in a chilled atmosphere. Private parties are another possibility.

Deliveries will be coming soon but right now you can call 0363 439 1032 and order in advance and then just ask someone to pick it up for you.!

The Reef Bar Jl Raya Conglang, Amed.
