Places We go to Dance the Night Away Selected by Weni & Husni

Nightlife | Written By, NOW! BALI | November 29th, 2013

For us at NOW! Bali, nothing is more fun than a night of barhopping. Of course, we always do it very responsibly – a designated driver is always around. It’s true that the island has undergone many transformations; so it’s not surprising that Bali’s nightlife has transformed many an empty land into a super-techno place to party. From the best upscale weeknight parties to the biggest weekend celebrity events, our favourite clubs and bars are the ticket to the best nightlife on the island.

And for this “My Bali Favourites” issue, NOW! Bali’s very own Weni and Husni weigh in and tell us about their favourite nightlife spots.

Potato Head Beach Club

The name might be a bit cheeky, but Potato Head knows exactly how to entertain its faithful patrons. Summer (around August) is a definite period when I clear my evening agenda and attend the beach club’s rocking summer parties, which so far have featured big names such as Snoop Dogg (a.k.a Snoop Lion), Foster The People, Fat Boy Slim, and Justice. I can hardly wait for next summer to come.

The Rock Bar at Ayana

This place is probably the most photographed bar in Bali! And while watching the sun set from the Rock Bar is just breathtaking, dancing the night away in the company of my favourite cocktail and close friends in this dramatically set venue is flawless.

Ryoshi Seminyak

Bali doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. On most nights, I enjoy going out to places where live Jazz performances take centre stage. For this, Ryoshi in Seminyak is always on the top of my list, their Monday Jazz Night never fails to entertainment me – and apparently plenty of others, too.

WooBar at W Retreat Seminyak – Bali

This stylish, beachfront bar always throws the most happening events. Sunset party, 8-hour party, even a pre-party of another big party, you name it, WooBar has it all. On the top of my list is the Silent Disco where you wear headphones and you have the liberty to choose between 3 options of music genres from three different DJs. During silent disco it’s always fun to take off your headphones and see the crowd going crazy with no music! The silent disco at Woo bar always manages to make me scream Woohoo!

Gracie Kelly’s at Bali Dynasty Resort

An Irish bar with a great selection of Irish beverages, and, of course, an Irish ambience is definitely rare in Bali. Another thing I love about Gracie Kelly’s, aside from sitting at the bar while sipping my black beer, is that I can turn a game of pool or darts into a drinking game. That’s right, bar-game essentials are provided here. The bar applies a non-smoking policy but after three pints of beer and shots of tequila, who cares about cigarettes? Friendly green leprechauns roam around the bar on certain nights. You should definitely take photos with them.

Hu’u Bar

After all this time, the legendary Hu’u Bar still retains its charm. Don’t miss Saturday nights after midnight, when Hu’u rolls out the best R&B playlist on the island. Costume nights such as Halloween and themed parties at Hu’u are a chance for me to really show off; and it’s something that I just can’t miss.
