Whenever Juan Pierre Anthony, a native Indonesian who spends most of his adult life globetrotting across the world returns to his hometown of Tanjung Benoa in Nusa Dua, he knows where to go first: his favourite warung.
Juan, like many other Indonesians feels nothing beats the experience of dining in a humble Indonesian warung. That homey dining establishment serving freshly prepared home-cooked meals, with a no-nonsense laidback environment at startlingly affordable price. Juan, who has been living abroad for half of his life (he is currently based in Dubai, UAE) has visited more than 50 countries. This very idea of this typical Indonesian warung prompted Juan to think – what if someone was to combine all the greatness of a humble warung, with world-class culinary standards that would meet the needs of even the most difficult taste? Who could help him to make his dreams come true?
The answer is French-Canadian chef Hugo Coudurier from 3-Michelin star Guy Savoy Paris. Coudurier has worked in some of the most celebrated kitchens in Europe and the United States. The classically trained Coudurier has prepared a short and sharp menu encompassing western and Asian flavours, with an emphasis on locally grown produce and the highest-quality meat. Chef Coudurier is excited to share his gastronomic vision and expertise with local cooking talents and will personally create the menus as well as mentoring the kitchen staff for MyWarung outlets soon to open in Canggu and Echo Beach this Christmas.
