Kitchen Theatre at Genji

From its beachside Lagoona Restaurant, to its traditional Balinese Theatre dinner, Ayodya Resort Nusa Dua offers a range of spectacular dining experiences. However, for those in the mood for ‘dinner and a show’, so to speak, can head over to Genji, the resort’s traditional Japanese restaurant, to enjoy some authentic teppanyaki. As you enter Genji, you are first welcomed by the friendly, kimono-wearing staff, who escort you to one of five available teppanyaki tables. Of course, for that true teppanyaki adventure, the 8-course menu is the way to go, of which Genji offers 3 options: Fuji, Kaede and Genji. With table-front cooking and your own personal chef, it makes for a fun and engaging feast.

Having chosen your menu, the fresh ingredients are lined up behind the chef. From light, refreshing sashimi, to tender scallop and succulent Australian wagyu beef there is a little something for everyone in each menu. However, as the food comes out, you begin to debate whether your stomach has enough space for all the food!

Some highlights include the foie gras minute steak, with brioche and blueberry sauce from the Kaede menu. The soft pâté is placed upon the grill to soften it slightly, helping it to melt as it touches your tongue. From the Genji menu, the Australian wagyu beef sirloin is a superb course; nothing beats watching a quality piece of steak sizzle on a hot grill, the aromas build up that appetite again after your first 4 courses.

Each menu has a small appetizer, fried rice, miso soup and the daily dessert, but then each diversifies into an assortment of fine meats, seafood, tempura and more. Genji Restaurant is a great choice if you’re looking for that true Japanese dining experience, and aside from teppanyaki they have a sushi room and private Tatami rooms, all with an extraordinary range of Japanese delicacies.!
