Meaning firewood, Kayu Bakar has officially opened its doors in the Berawa neighbourhood, bringing modern contemporary meat, poultry, seafood and vegetable dishes.
Their grilling and roasting techniques start by placing coffee wood and fruit woods in the fire oven and grill to create the warmth of a home-cooked meal. Those who are keen to experience an open concept kitchen can take a seat downstairs, while on the second floor you can watch the bartenders at work or chill on the balcony. The interior is nouveau-chic complete with burned wood panelling, polished concrete, leather seating and sprawling windows, promising fun and casual vibes. Kayu Bakar also commits to giving back and supporting small local businesses by getting most of their ingredients from the local farmers, including the woods they are using!
The restaurant serves up all kinds of dishes, from Asian-inspired flavours of Thailand and Indonesia, from Pad Thai, Martabak, Singaporean Laksa; to simple deli delights like smoked feta salad, Four-Cheese Grilled Sandwich; they have pastas and cured meats. Of course their grill is their piece de resistance, offering signatures Dry-Aged steaks from rib-eye, T-bone, tenderloin, sirloin as well as hearty skewers in either a souvlaki or kebab style.
There’s a lot to try at Kayu Bakar, and the only way you’ll know you’ll love it is by trying it yourself!
