Seminyak has evolved into quite a food Mecca over the last year. With its packed eating places and establishments of avant-garde gastronomy, this area is where foodies and tourists seeking a day of toothsome gluttony tend to stick around, for there’s an abundance of food culture just waiting to be explored. The Spanish, especially, are now in for a treat with the growing number of Spanish restaurants opening doors in Seminyak.

Adelicious addition to the Seminyak culinary scene is Miura Pintxos Bar & Grill, a dining establishment where you can get your fix of the typical choices found in Basque country, Spain. Created by the ‘engineers’ who have already displayed their epicurean passion and talent by launching Meja Kitchen, this new restaurant is set to be the answer to the tapas lovers’ dream by introducing Pintxos (Basque-style tapas) to Bali.

Before you get in the feasting mood, you should start with the restaurant’s refreshing “Tinto Sangria”. Then you can start digging into your “Paella de Pollo” (Arborio rice, tomato, chicken, onion, sea salt, great peas, green paprika, red paprika, yellow paprika), “Ensaladas” (home-made cream cheese, wild rockets, grilled beetroots, mint, parsley, tarragon), and “Postres” (cream caramel with vanilla chantilly and coconut) as the sweet finale.

The Pintxos are definitely the winners here – the sharing plates of the appetising Spanish bites can never go wrong at any time of the day. Miura concentrates more on the exquisite and rich variety of seafood and other products Indonesia has to offer, presenting both traditional and modern interpretations of Pintxos with an Indonesian twist. The restaurant’s kitchen team has created a comprehensive menu for all you gastro buffs. Again, they continue to emphasise traditional Basque recipes, with a contemporary approach.

Yet, the hottest thing about Miura is probably their revolutionary hybrid grill, Josper! The one and only in Bali, the Josper is an elegant combination of a grill and an oven in a single machine. It is first and foremost a grill but the secret of what it adds to whatever is cooked in it – whether steaks, chicken, fish, vegetables or anything else – is that none of the natural moisture or flavour escapes. Burning top-quality charcoal, the Josper is the hottest indoor barbecue available. Be careful, you might get addicted to it very quickly!
