A brand new concept in competitions has come to light in the running world; the brainchild of both Index Creative Village and Thai AirAsia Company, KILORUN makes its debut in 2018, whilst Kilorun Bali is set to hit Bali 2nd of June.
The concept was a massive success in Bangkok, Thailand and since has been planned to expand to other parts of South East Asia. The competition blends together the hugely popular hobbies of running, eating and travelling into one. Those taking part will brought through a path that has them sightseeing some of Bali’s cultural and traditional destinations whilst also tasting local cuisine – all whilst going for a run!
The Bali event is expected to host more than 2,000 runners of all abilities and will be held in Ubud.
So, what is KiloRun Bali all about?
What makes the series different from other running races is that the measurement is not framed on mere KM (Kilometers), but also KG (Kilograms) with which participants can enjoy chowing down a wide variety of signature dishes from the favourite local restaurants. So there are 2 races, the KM race and KG race.
Winners will be selected on their time in completing the different races – 3, 5 and 10 km lengths are available. For the KM run, the running course will pass several iconic attractions that include Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, Ubud Palace, Puri Lukisan Museum, Pura Taman Saraswati, Ubud Market and other captivating locations.
The KG Run allows runners to enjoy a wide variety of signature dishes, and the goal is to be able to GAIN weight (0.5kg or 1kg) after crossing the finish line. Dishes such as Satay Ayam (Chicken Satay), Soto Ayam (Indonesian Chicken Noodle Soup), Nasi Goreng (Indonesian Stir-fried Rice), Bebek Goreng (Deep Fried Soft Bone Duck). Runners who are able to gain the required weight of 0.5 kg or 1.0 kg after crossing the finish line will be awarded with exclusively-designed race medals.
Runners of the two races will be given a running shirt, a stylish apron and a race medal. Grand prizes, special rewards and exclusive giveaways also await to be taken home.
Those interested in the series can purchase tickets online on www.kilorun.com and join the conversation on Facebook (KILORUN) and Instagram (KILORUN2018).
