Bali’s most prominent cultural celebration is back in 2017 for their 39th event running. That’s right, on June 10 2017, the Bali Arts Festival officially opens!
This is Bali’s cultural highlight of the year, where for a whole month all aspects of art on on display. Everything from traditional dances, costume parades, art displays and exhibitions and musical performances are expected here. It is the best place for visitors and locals alike to witness aspects of local culture otherwise difficult to see or find. This year, the festival follows the theme ‘Ulun Danu’, meaning land and sea. The theme brings focus on water as the source of life and promotes the need to conserve water here in Bali.
The festival always starts with its popular parade, the opening ceremony, which is held at the Bajra Sandhi monument in Denpasar – the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, will be at the opening ceremony this year! If you’re not in Bali, the island official YouTube channel Bali GoLive will be live streaming the event from 2pm at 10 June 2017 (on Facebook and Youtube Live).
