Jimbaran is most famous for its grilled seafood restaurants, which scatter Jimbaran beach. But if you look closer, it offers more than that. At Jalan Uluwatu in Kedonganan, you can find  Balique Vintage Café and Restaurant, which commands attention for its unique design, courtesy of designer and owner, Zohra Boukhari. Enjoy tasty selections of International and Mediterranean flavours as well as Indonesian and Asian favourites, made from fresh, mostly organic, ingredients.

Next in the area is KO Japanese Restaurant, a dining outlet of The InterContinental Bali Resort. Come for dinner in a unique dining arrangement that offers a few different experiences. Enjoy lively interactive dining around an open kitchen at the Teppanyaki counter.  A fresh a la carte menu is served in a traditional Tatami dining setting at the Sushi Lounge & Bar.

To pamper your sweet tooth, stop by Chocolate Café at the corner of Jimbaran Bay for the best pastries in the neighborhood. Desserts are especially awesome, which include popular items like waffles, crepes and chocolate fondue. Chocolate Café also serves delicious savoury courses, like their Thyme & Garlic Lamb Chop, Chicken vol-au-vent, Pad Thai, and more.

In Jimbaran bay, Jimbaran seafood grill restaurants still draw the biggest crowd. But more and more visitors are stopping by Bamboo Chic at the newly opened Le Meridien Jimbaran. Bamboo Chic is the only dining venue in the neighborhood that offers such a variety of Pan Asian cuisines. The chef’s love of Asian food is obvious in every bite of the Cantonese Pork dish that we had.

Going up the hill, along Jimbaran beach, is the new fashionable beach club of Four Seasons Jimbaran, Sundara.  The exterior and menu looked promising and when we finally got the opportunity to dine there, we were delighted to note that Sundara really delivers. The ambiance, the food, the service… everything works. On a hot day, order any one of its impressive cocktails to refresh you.

Ayana Resort & Spa Bali, located just over the hill from Sundara, is home to acclaimed chef Jusman So. He has been heavily praised for his creative dishes, which can be enjoyed at Ayana’s dining outlet, Dava. Prepare to be surprised, and eventually utterly delighted, with Dava’s degustation menu, which will keep you excited until the last course.

For a more romantic ambiance go down the Ayana cliff to Kisik Bar and Grill. Stunning views and a delectable seafood tasting menu is what is on offer there. Kisik succeeds in adopting Jimbaran’s signature market and raises it to another level. At Kisik you will have only the freshest catch from the area. This is literally the very end of the journey in the Jimbaran area.

But going back out to Jalan Raya Uluwatu, passing Chocolate Café toward the steep Jalan Uluwatu, look for Kat’s Kitchen, the only cult favourite on this list. It has served great Thai cuisine for many years now. And from the look of it, Kat’s Kitchen will be doing what it does best to a growing number of fans for many more years to come.
