The final number of films selected for this year’s 9th edition reaches 100 titles up from 60 films in 2014. BALINALE received a record number of entries with over 300 from 42 countries adding to the challenge of completing the line-up with so many excellent movies to choose.

To name a few: ‘Ode To My Father’ (2014) Yoon Je-kyoon (Korea), ‘Round Trip Heart’ (2015) Yuki Tanada (Japan) and the popular Indonesian selection ‘About a Woman’ by Teddy Soeriaatmadja.

BALINALE, held 24th – 30th September, will be centered around its new ‘Official Venue Partner’, Cinemaxx, the countries newest cinema chain situated at the popular and conveniently located Lippo Mall Kuta, Bali.

The festival’s annual Open Air Cinema (or Layar Tancap) is a focal point for the public and an important part of the festival’s commitment to the community.

A ‘Shorts Marathon’ of 65 titles will highlight this year’s theme of ‘Face of Diversity’ projected on a large screen at Lippo Mall Kuta’s main entrance from Thursday 24 September – Sunday 27 September. This event is held ‘free of charge’.
